This is a hover Fly, hanging out on some Queen Anne’s Lace. I don’t think they sting, though one still has the impulse to wave it away if it flies near.

Ideally, Apple Blossoms appear in late May to early June here in Upstate NY, but a warm spring will bring them out earlier, when they’ll run the risk of getting bitten by a late frost.
